The Museum of Modern African Art Gallery & Lifestyle (MOMAA), a platform that promotes African artworks, recently kickstarted a 30-day non-fungible token (NFT) Modern African Art Exhibition. The exhibition, which will be MOMAA’s first NFT showcase, is set to feature the works of Goran Pin or the Portraitist. Pin, a Croatian national, is an artist seen “pushing the edges of the crypto art medium on multiple levels.”

According to a statement on MOMAA’s website, taking the centre stage at this exhibition will be the Portratist’s “Kings and Queens Collection.” The NFT collection contains the “1st ever portraits of African kings minted on the blockchain.”

The statement adds:

As revealed in the statement, it will be the portraits of two African royals, King Letsie III and King Mswati III that will feature in the Potraitist’s collection.

In the meantime, the statement also commends Pin for choosing to help connect “traditional art with crypto art.” While his works are “highly collectible”, MOMAA notes that the artist has nonetheless chosen to “put the auction sale of his entire Kings and Queens Collection on hold.”
